Don’t worry everything is alright with basketball practice, kaya we can meet naman later, dadaan lang ako sa Toy Kingdom, may Toy Exhibition rin yata sila. After maybe 30-45 minutes,

It’s alright basta lapitan mo na lang ako once you’ve seen me. Basta walang Indianan. J - 0921184****

At nakita na nga nya ang hinahanap nyang tao na naka pinstriped long sleeved shirt with a brown bag. Tamang-tama naman na kababasa lang ni Mr. Pinstriped guy ng text nung textmate nya. The younger guy was about to tap Mr. Pinstriped guy ng biglang humarap ito sa kanya.

“Ikaw?” laking gulat ni Chester.

“Oh, We’ve met right? Yeah ikaw yung best friend ni Michael Sy na basketball jock.” Laking gulat ni Allen na boss ni David Castillejos. And then he realized something, “Don’t tell me that the best friend na you were referring over chat was…” somehow Allen got carried away with his reaction.

Namumuo ang pawis ni Chester sa pagka gulat he doesn’t really know how to react on this kind of situation, ang naitanung lang nya was, “I thought that you do work in a BPO firm?”

“Yes, sideline ko lang yung pagtatrabaho in art exhibits… Hindi ba nasabi ni Mickey sayo?” tanong ni Allen, and he felt that this guy is feeling uneasy with the scene.

“Chester right? I believe we were already introduced by Mickey before.” Ang sabi ni Allen, sa chat kasi they haven’t had the chance to actually exchange their real names.

Hindi alam ni Chester if he’ll be leaving, or what. But by the looks of it mukhang napasubo na sya.

“Yes it’s Chester Ylano. Allen right? Allen Marciano.” Balik naman nito.

“Yes, Allen nga, and don’t be to formal hindi naman na iba si Mickey sakin.” Tugon nito.

Halatang hindi mapakali si Chester kaya si Allen na ang nag-paunlak, “So shall we go into a more private place? A not so crowded restaurant perhaps?”

Well in the end Chester agreed on this, they have gone into this restaurant na hindi naman gaanoon katao.

Then Allen ordered some food, treat nya daw muna. As they have waited for the food they have ordered Allen started all the talking.

“So Mr. Ylano, I know na nagulat ka, pero kamusta ka na. You were all very emotional sa chat kaya I decided to initiate this meet up at malay mo makatulong ako. So care to talk about it now?” Allen observed that Chester was all timid and reserved that he didn’t even uttered a word ever since they got there. After 5 minutes, of no talk at all.

“Alright suko nako, I’ll just pay for the food, and I guess I’ll be going…” at tumayo na si Allen sa kanyang kinauupuan then swiftly Chester reached for Allen’s hands. “Wait!” he said in a worried voice “Please stay. I am really sorry it is just I am really confused right now.” At ayun nagsalita rin siya.

Upon riding the taxi, someone from the other door went into a ride with him. Syempre nagulat si Allen about that scene.

“So what happened?” asked the man with the wet hooded sweat shirt.

“OMG… Ginulat mo ako, don’t you ever do that again.” Relieved, Allen just replied. “Tignan mo ito, nung unang meet ko sa kanya he is so timid, takot, pero ngayon na somehow he is starting to embrace his sexuality akala mo tinamaan na ng lintik” nasabi lang ni Allen sa kanyang sarili.

It was Chester, Mickey was indeed right, it was Chester who is outside the parking area staring at him.

“Okay naman, so do you wanted the good news or the bad news?

Startled Chester asked, “At may bad news talaga?”

“Of course I am just kidding…” pero Allen is bluffing, syempre ayaw nyang masira ang moment ni Mr. Chester Ylano.

“He misses you…” briefly Allen told him.

“Huh? Yun na yun?” reaksyon ni Chester.

Napakunot nuo lang si Allen sa reaksyon ni Ylano, “Eh ano bang gusto mong marinig? Hindi sya makakain di sya makatulog, he is miserable and he terribly missing you? Chester, straight yung kaibigan mo, yun ngang aminin nyang namimiss ka nya ang hirap na nun ha…” pangaral nito at napag-isip isip ni Allen at nasabi nya sa kanyang sarili, “Tama ba yung sinabi ko, si Mickey, straight? Nahhhhh…” at kinontra nya rin ang kanyang naisip.

On the other hand Chester realiezed that it is already a big leap na rin sa Mickey na kilala nya. Na for all these time, nagiging selfish din sya sa kanyang nararamdaman for him. Maybe it is now time to pay Mr. Michael Sy a visit.

Days have passed, on his way home from the hospital out of nowhere nakatanggap si Mickey ng isang text message mula sa kaibigang hindi nya nakausap for the longest time.

Hey, musta? Kung di ka busy, sa dating tambayan? . – Ches Ylano 0927143****

Sige ba. In 5 minutes I’ll be there. J  – 0927375**** Mickey, my best buddy

From a very tiring day, Mickey’s mood shifted to a joyous one. In no time, nakarating na sila as usual na tambayan nila sa Starbucks.

Naabutan pa ni Michael si Chester na nag papapicture sa mga kolehiyala.

“Tsk tsk, tignan mo ito… nawala lang sandali, pero mas mukhang lumaki pa ang fan base… Musta na?” ang sabi ni Mickey rito, but instead na sumagot,

Chester gave him their usual handshake gave him a brotherly hug and a tap on his shoulders. Mas mukhang nag laway yata ang mga kababaihan sa nakita. And some gay guys, who is lounging on the other table were also checking on them.

“Michael Sy right? Okay lang ba na mag pa picture sa inyo ni Mr. Ylano? We are from St. Paul’s college…” said this cute quirky girl. Syempe nag paulak naman ung dalawa. They are both towering with their heights.

“Thanks!” at numakaw pa ng kiss sa cheeks ni Chester yung isang Paulinian girl.

“Ikaw na!” matawa-tawang sinabi ni Mickey, and jokingly he continued it with, “Shouldn’t I be also be getting some love here?”

And that sexy girl said in return, “Nah maybe next time, I believe that you are already committed, I don’t want to play with fire…” and the girl group slowly walked away.

“I can play with fire with you Mr. Basketball jock…” out of nowhere nasabi ng isang prying gay guy from another table, sabay tungo nito dahil as if Mickey over heard what he said.

“Gee, mukhang hindi pa yata sila informed na I am already on the market? Or am I?” Michael Sy told Chester, also contradicting kung ano nga ba ang status ng kanyang lovelife sa ngayon.

While Chester was giving him his fake delightful smile from that kiss that he got from that girl where in fact he is really grossed out.

“Chester okay ka lang?” as Mickey checked out his distracted buddy.

“I am alright, so long time no see? Tagal na rin ano? It has been days or weeks na rin. Not like before na almost everyday tayo mag-kasama.” Sagot ni Chester sa kanya, and they have lounged after ordering their favorite concoction of coffee.

“Yeah, ang tagal tagal na rin. Kahit ako until now I am wondering saan ba talaga nag simula ang lahat ng ito” Mickey said frankly.

Well alam na alam naman ni Chester kung saan nagsimula ito pero hindi na sya nagfocus on details.

“Ang importante is we are okay again, and nakakamiss din yung mga hang outs natin na ganito.” As if may gusto iparating si Mr. Ylano sa kanyang sinabi, he was about to place his dessert fork when he accidentally placed it in the edge of the table and it fell on the ground, nag kasabay naman sila sa pag pulot and they got the surprise of their lives ng nagkahawakan sila ng kamay. The other gay guys on the other table were staring at them.

“Tignan mo ung Chester oh, blushing… Confirmed na!” sabi nito, sabay type sa kanyang I-phone.

“Oh sorry Mickey” as he apologize.

“Hey, wala yun we can ask for a new one para makain mo na yang pastry na inorder natin. Alam kong fave mo yan…” tugon nito sa kaibigan.

Mas lalong kinilig si Chester and evidently mas namula ng narinig nya from Mickey na alam nya ang fave pastry nito.

Hindi naman ito napansin ni Mickey since he is preoccupied in asking for a new clean fork and he had picked up the coffee na inorder nila.

Wala na sigurong mas hihigit pa sa mararamdaman ni Chester sa mga maririnig nya from Mickey.

“Actually you are somehow right, I miss this, this kinds of stuff. Yung chillax lang, having this casual talk. 

Alam mo naman sa lahat ng mga close sa akin sayo talaga ako nakakapag sabi ng kahit ano. Chester Ylano, I really did miss talking to you… Actually the whole team misses you. Nawala kasi yung apologetic jokester ng team.” As Mickey explained to him.

Chester was in cloud nine at the time upon hearing that from him. Hindi man nya direktang sinabi, actually in some way he did, ang mahalaga coming from Mickey na he misses him and somehow it is a confirmation na it is now time for him to come back.

After siguro ng isang oras na walang patid na usapan they have eventually decided to part ways, ngayon narealize ni Chester na this is not the time to desert his best buddy Mickey dahil sa nararamdaman nya. Rather he realize na ngayon dapat lagi syang nasa tabi ni Mickey to support him sa bawat pagsubok na pag dadaanan nito at ng buong team.

Boys with Big Balls?

Usually we just hear stories of such kind in fictional gay stories about jock’s who are into their own team mates. But news are now circulating around the basketball collegiate world that there is this tandem who is somehow intimate having dinners and coffee together.

They are spotted having coffee and having sweet moments together. According to some netizens, it is very evident that one of the jocks is very much infatuated to his best buddy. To give you an idea, for some reason he blushes when he looks at his buddy. Juicy Clue: They are from a very popular team for they do have good looking bunch of champion basketball players.

This news spread like wildfire in Social Media sites. But of course lahat ay speculation lamang.

“Have you read this news sis, may beki daw sa isa sa mga sikat na collegiate teams dito sa atin?” sabi ni Ador, isa sa mga writers ng ADLU newspaper na The Lenoirian.

Marianne the editor in chief rebutted, “Yes nabasa ko na yan. Sis, ano naman ang gusto mong palabasin, na there might be a chance na nasa team natin yung blind item news na yan? Madaming collegiate basketball teams sa Pinas, remember dalawa pa ang sikat na league sa atin both UAAP and NCAA”

“Why not? Heller masyadong mga good looking yung mga team members ng basketball team natin and minsan gumagana ang radar ko sa kanila, ewan ko ba. And besides, magandang scoop yun sis.”

“Hayyys, nag iisip ka ba? Would you think this kind of news would help out our team para maka kuha tayo ng ating 3^rd championship win? Yeah it may be a very enticing news sa iba, pero I don’t think it is a very good move, remember sis, responsible reporting!”

Bago mag laro ang Quicksilvers basketball team for the 2^nd cycle ng game, which is isa sa mga mahahalaga nilang games, masinsinan naman nag uusap mga magkakateam mates tungkol sa kumakalat na balita.

Ang isa pang funny man ng team aside kay Chester ang nagsimula ng topic. AJ Agaton, “Ui mga pre, nababasa nyo ba ung kumakalat sa Facebook nung mga nakaraang araw?”

“Alin? Yung sex video mo kumalat na?” biro na sagot  ni Jaydee Castro.

“Gago, sex video mo mukha mo!” tabla ni AJ, sabay dugtong, “Hindi yung mga bading daw isa isang Collegiate basketball league.”

Nakikinig lang si Mickey sa mga kasama nya sa locker room.

Singgit naman si Marthy Cojuangco, “Well mga tol, there is UAAP and NCAA, marami rami din teams yun.”

“Yun na nga eh, pero sabi sa storya champion team daw, so pwedeng present champion, or recent previous champion lang.” conclusion ni AJ Agaton.

“So ano naman ang gusto mong palabsin na that narrow’s the story to several teams na nag champion this past years? At pwedeng nasa team natin un?” sagot ni JM Roda isa sa mga power forward.

“Tumpak, nakuha mo JM pre!” tugon ni AJ.

“Teka, teka, maraming pang mga recent champions mga tol, kaya wag kayo kagad mag conclude, may DLSU, Ateneo and FEU pa…” sabi naman ng isang power forward na si TJ Baraquiel.

“don’t forget the teams sa NCAA, Baste at Beda pa…” dugtong ni Marthy Cojuangco.

"Haha, Marthy at TJ, kayo ha, medyo defensive kayong dalawa, hahaha!” sabay lakas na halakhak ni AJ Agaton.

“Fuck you AJ! Tang-ina pare, tuwang tuwa nga ung girlfriend ko sa burat ko, mamamakla pako?” yabang na sagot ni Marthy.

“Eh ikaw Jechs ano naman sa tingin mo?” natanong ni AJ kay Joshua Prado, katatapos lang mag warm-up dribbling nito.

“Ahh yung bang bading na player?” tumahimik sya sandali, at seryosong sinagot, “Dapat dun binubugbog, pahiyain nya lang ang buong team, at mapapahiya sya in the most unimaginable thing na maiisip nya, di ba Mickey?” sabay bilis ng pasa ng bola kay Michael Sy.

Mabilis din naman nyang nasalo ito with one hand, at bahagyang napalunok, “Oo naman Jechs.”

Bahagyang tumahimik ang locker room, ng “Hahaha…” lakas ng tawa ni Joshua Prado, “Mga ano tayo, hater? Hehe, sigurado naman akong walang bading dito. Oh sino ba yang parating si pareng Chester yan ha?”

At lahat at nagtayuan sa kanilang kinauupuan at tumigil sa kanilang pinag gagawa.

Tamang-tama naman na kararating lang ni Team Captain, Jason Helguera, kagagaling nya lang with some instructions sa mga coaches.

“Oh welcome back Chester. Long time no see ha?” sabi ng captain rito.

“Oo nga tagal mo rin nawala Chester, balita ko nagkalat ang mga pictures mo sa FB ha?” ang sabi ni AJ Agaton.

Kinabahan si Chester sa narinig, nakita naman ni Mickey ang reaction ng kaibigan.

“Pakilala mo naman ako dun sa mga chikas na nakilala mo, ang gagandang Paulinian, wala ka bang I shashare?” ang sabi ni AJ Agaton.

“Oo nga Chester, mag share ka naman dyan…” Drake Parker 2^nd the motion.

At bahagyang nakahinga si Mr. Ylano sa narinig.

With his whole manly voice he answered, “Sige mga tol’, I am chatting with Kara now sasabihin ko, group night out tayo with them.”

At nag gisingan ang libido ng team upon hearing that. From that very moment ayun fired up ang buong team sa 1^st game nila sa 2^nd cycle. Medyo tight ang laban, 3 minutes at the 4^th quarter lamang ang Quicksilvers team ng three points against the Green Archers.

On that last 3 minutes of the game, possession ng Quicksilvers team ang bola, nakuha pang mag biro out of nowhere ni AJ Agaton. Habang naka time out ang kabilang team, “So sa tingin mo Mickey sino kaya sa mga kalaban natin ang alam mo na?” hindi na lang kumibo si Mr. Nice guy Mickey but it seems narinig sya ng isang member ng kabilang team.

“Haha, wala kaya sa inyong team ung kumakalat ng balita? O baka naman ikaw un pare? Este mare pala… Hahaha!” patudsyada nito.

“Ui tingin ka sa baba, bayag mo sad sad na…” asar na sagot ni AJ Agaton.

At nag simula na ang last two minutes of the game for the very last quarter.

Pinasa ni Jech-jech Prado ang bola kay Michael Sy, the latter was about to make a 2 point lay-up, then this Green Archer Ace player was about to make a rebound ng nawalan ito ng balance, and he bumped on Michael Sy, na out of balance si Michael Sy at masama ang pag bagsak nya, naitukod nya ang kanyang kanang kamay and somehow it went crooked ang masama pa rito is nadaganan pa ang ganyang left leg and he felt the most excruciating pain, he had a major sprain, di pa alam kung may nabali or what.

It was called a foul pero di pa alam kung kamusta ang kalagayan ni Mickey Sy.

Bahagyang nag kagulo sa court and the Silverbelles has come into Mickey’s aid, particularly Anika.

“So I guess hindi na muna makakapag laro si Sy ngayon, so Chester ikaw muna ang bahala sa post ni Michael okay?” as instructed by Coach Leon.

Buhat buhat naman nina Jech jech at ng team captain patungo sa stretcher si Michael Sy.

“Coach as the head of the student council, ako na po ang mamahala sa pag dala kay Mr. Sy for some proper aid.” Alok ni Anika.

Well na isip ni coach na it would be a great idea at least hindi na rin maabala or mag aalala ang buong team since Mickey is in capable hands.

Mag-papaalam sana si Jechs sa kanyang girlfriend ng makita nya itong paalis at hinahatid ang stretcher ni Mickey. Nakita nya pang kinocomfort ito ni Anika with all the pain Mickey is now experiencing.

Jech jech admitted to himself na it felt really awkward, pero he somehow understands. “So Jechs come on, the game is about to start.” Ang tawag ni AJ Agaton.

Chester made the two free throw shots for Mickey since he is now injured, and they are now on the lead for about 5 points ahead their opponent. Pero hindi ito magtatagal dahil for some unknown reason, the next 50 seconds that the team would be playing mawawala sila sa focus, particularly si Jech Jech Prado.

“Team, focus!” sigaw ni Coach Leon.

“Oo nga team, focus!” paalala rin ni Team Captain Helguera.

“Shit , Joshua ano ba ang nangyayari sayo? The other team is now ahead by 12 points…” and he is now blaming himself dahil somehow he is a bit jealous. Ilang fouls din ang nagawa nya in the previous 50 seconds of the game.

Napansin naman ni Chester na balisa si Jech-jech. “Dude, babawi tayo okay? Come on, let’s now get our our win tonight, para tuloy tuloy na sa finals…” kumbinsi nito.

Tamang-tama naman na nag time out sina coach, then Mr. Blacksheep checked his mobile phone.

Jechs, I am sorry kung di nako nakapag paalam, I wish you all the best with your game tonight, Kisses! – Anika 0927456****

Well that very message made him assured na magiging okay sila ni Anika.

While in the hospital, kinukuha naman ang x-ray results ni Mickey kung malaki ba ang pinsala. Anika was with him the whole time, nilapatan naman na ng paunang lunas si Mickey sa ospital.

“Anika… Ano ba talaga, kahit sarili mo hindi mo na mainitindihan, you have broke Mickey’s heart into pieces and now you have this feeling na you wanted him back, in the expense of breaking another man’s heart, Joshua’s heart… Are you really that selfish?…” natanong niya sa kanyang sarili.

And she was approached by the doctor, “You are Ms. Anika Marie Ang right?”

And she responded, “Yes that’s me, how is Mickey doing now?”

“I have phoned his Aunt already and she’s on her way here na rin, so how are you related to him?” tanong ng doctor.

“Ammm… We are like family na rin, you are referring po ba kay Tina Nina? Dr. Nina Ricafuente right?” balik na sagot ni Anika.

“Yes I am referring to her, don’t worry, he’ll be alright na rin naman, minor lang naman ung injury pero medyo painful lang talaga on his part, imagine both his hands and part of his legs are injured. I don’t mean to pry but I believe you are his girlfriend right?” naitanong ng attending doctor ni Mickey.

“Actually… “ she was about to answer her ng dumating si Nina.

“So how is he?” tanong nito, sinagot na rin naman siya ni Doctor Castillo, and she was assured na everything would be alright. And pwede naman na nilang silipin si Mickey.

Nagulat si Mickey dahil nandun pa rin si Anika, “Hey, I really appreciate that you’re here. But how’s the game? And it is not like that I am pushing you away but paano si Jech-jech? You should be with him.” He politely told Anika.

“Don’t worry. It is fine, he already texted, he understands. By the way our team won against the Green Archers, 86-85. Imagine, a one point lead win.” Kwento nito kay Mickey.

Mickey then smiled upon hearing the news, “Wow that’s nice, I know that the team can make it kahit na wala ako.” Ang sabi nito.

And she then said upon seeing Mickey’s infectious smile, “No, actually I can’t live without you.” Then an outburst of feeling was then out of Anika’s lips.

“What?” hindi yata masyadong narinig ni Mickey ang nasabi ng huli.

“What I mean is the team needs you, kung alam mo lang how they they badly needed you…” at binawi na nya ang kaniyang sinabi.

At malinaw na malinaw naman na narinig ni Tita Nina ang lahat, pero kinamusta muna nya ang kanyang pamangkin.

“So next time be careful okay? Mag-pahinga ka na, and you do needed that, mag papadala na lang ako kay Manang ng mga gamit or damit mo okay?” and somehow she have said her goodbyes.

“I guess I would be going na rin, Joshua already texted. Susunduin nya raw ako rito. I’ll just tell him that visiting hours is now over. Maybe dalawin ka na lang namin bukas, good bye and take care Mickey…” and she said her goodbyes, kitang kita naman sa mukha ni Anika ang kalungkutan at pang hihinayang.

Sabay na lumabas ng kwarto si Anika at Nina, “Can we talk? Privately?” paanyaya ng tiyahin ni Mickey.

At isinama nya ito sa isang private room ng isang pasyente, it was David Castillejos’ room.

“It has been months since that accident happened, and look at him. He may be recovering but he still in a coma.” At sinimulan ni Nina ang pag sasalita, “Iha, tatapatin na kita. Back then I was very hopeful that magiging maganda ang magiging relasyon nyo ng pamangkin ko. And I was thinking na ikaw na ang para sa kanya. Pero that night nangyari na nga ang mga nangyari. Alam ko, naramdaman ko ang nangyari ng gabing yun. Don’t get me wrong kahit kailan ay hindi nagkwento ang pamangkin ko sa mga nangyari pero that night was the night when you crushed Mickey’s heart.” Maluha-luhang sinabi ng harapan ni Nina sa kanya.

“Tita, I didn’t mean to…” hindi pa tapos si Anika na iexplain ang sarili, “Yes alam ko hindi mo sinasadya, hindi mo sinasadya na saktan sya, but Mickey is so fragile kaya that Accident did happen, pwede kong sabihin na kasalanan niya dahil mahina sya, pero kasalanan bang mag-mahal sya iha? Tell me? Kasalanan bang mahalin ka nya ng buong buo...” tuloy tuloy lang si Nina sa pagsasalita.

At bumuhos na rin ang luha ni Anika.

“Mickey is like a son to me. Ever since iniwan siya ng kanyang ina ako na ang tumayong ina para sa kanya. Kaya nadudurog ang puso ko sa tuwing nasasaktan ang pamangkin ko. I don’t want to give you some false hopes pero on the very weekend of the accident he was planning to ask your hand in marriage or have you both engaged… And I just told him na it is too early that is still young and naïve, and he just told me na, Nana, Anika is the one, our age is really something not  to consider, don’t worry engagement pa lang naman, mga 20 to 25 pa naman kami mag papakasal” kwento nito.

Mas lalong bumuhos ang luha ni Anika upon hearing that.

“Iha, mag popropose na sana sya sayo over that weekend, but the accident happened, and the rest is they say is history. Pero in some weird way I felt something have changed sa pamangkin ko, I have seen this sense of maturity in him, and that very man on that bed did show him and has given him the courage to let free of his inhibitions in life. Anika, Michael is now in the new page of his life, please don’t play with fire the second time around.” Paala-ala nito.

Nakuha naman ni Anika ang sinabi ng tiyahin ni Mickey, hindi na nya nakuhang mag-paalam, at nag tatakbo ito palabas ng kwarto.
