The Accident (CHAPTER 2)

The Accident

Mickey was in awe when he heard this, he was crushed, trampled. The PINK LITTLE MOLE that Joshua Prado is referring to was a birthmark that Anika had beside her “thingee” down under.

It was a bulls-eye for Mr. Black sheep. Michael was very much enraged. He then pushed Joshua back using the ball that he was about to throw.

Tang-ina pare… Whatta fuck? What are you talking about?” Mickey was like a mad-man. A riot was about to start. The team then ran after them.

“You do know what I am talking about. And your ex-Anika, was awesomely hot. Hot in bed that is…” Joshua was not yet contented with his first statement, which he made sure, that it was an insult that Michael couldn’t sustain.

In an instant Mickey threw a punch on Jech-jech’s face.

“That wasn’t hard.” as Joshua wipe off his bloody nose.

Joshua was about to throw his counter punch when the other team mates intervene with them. Joshua was still shouting those three words, “PINK LITTLE MOLE”. Mickey on the other hand was still mad, but he tactfully had composed himself and walked away from the group.

“Hey, Michael pare…” Chester decided to follow his fiery buddy.

El capitan Jason Helguera was very displeased with what had just happen.

“Prado… Can you tell me what shit had just happened?” the team’s captain Jason asked Joshua in a very outraged manner.

“The shit on our team just left. If you wanted to know something just ask him.” Mr. Black sheep then spitted on the floor and walked away.

“Hey you Prado… Don’t leave when I am still talking to you, you asshole!” Jason was very much mad with Joshua.

Even the furious captain cannot stop Joshua “Jech-jech” Prado to leave the court that night. Meanwhile Chester had run after Michael Sy, he had this slight idea on what is running on his best buddy’s head.

“Hey bro, wait up! You’ll be driving again, and I do know how you drive when you do get agitated.” Mr. Ylano cautioned Michael.

“Don’t worry Chess… I’ll be alright…” and Michael had left behind his buddy Chester on the school’s parking lot.

Mickey was now using the family’s SUV, for his metallic blue sports car was being refurbished. For a very rough night, Michael was quite driving calmly. But after quite sometime, tears were now rolling from his eyes, to the point that his cheeks were very damp. He has nowhere to go to, he has a house but not a home, he has a father but he can’t even be with him, he had a girl, but she just left, that very girl that he held very dearly, in just a snap, have left him miserably. And now he hears those words from Prado. What a night for this hopeless romantic guy.

Miles and miles, he just then drive and drive, he went to Makati, back to Pasay, then back to Manila, to Taft Ave. then back to Edsa, then back to Manila, Michael just had the longest car drive of his life, he refueled. Then he decided to drive again, It was about 3am when he received calls… he decided to turn his mobile phone off. It has been about 4 hours of non-stop driving. It was in an intersection that he felt his exhaustion. While the red light was on, he noticed this neon white light shaped cross. He decided to go to the said cross, but he then realized that it was a hospital. It was the same hospital on where David Castillejos was admitted, Michael Sy’s car hitting victim. He then decided to pay him a visit.

It was a no visiting hour when he arrived, Imagine it was almost four in the morning, but he then decided to make a call to his Aunt Nana, who managed to pull some strings for his nephew. The head nurse Sally accompanied him to David’s private hospital room, compliments by Mickey’s dad Stanley Sy and his Aunt Nana.

“He is well taken care off here Mr. Sy. His vital signs were quite stable so it was decided that he should be transferred from the ICU to this private room. David might not be responding now, but he is fighting.” Nurse Sally explained to Mickey.

“I see… That’s good to hear… Can you give us a moment Ma’am? Just him and me?” Mickey asked the nurse.

The nurse just nodded and then left. Then he just then realized,
“What am I doing here?”

He then walked and walked across the room for almost a quarter of an hour. Michael noticed the hospital room interior, the boring green walls, the white fixtures and furnishings. And then he decided to pause. He paused at the bottom most part of the patient’s bed. There he stared at the seemingly now serene face of David. Michael then took this stainless steel hospital chair and he seated beside him. And then he broke into tears. He kept on mumbling and mumbling, uttering words which cannot be understand nor make any sense.
Then Mickey started to talk clearly. He actually started to talk to the unconscious David Castillejos. As if the latter was his silent confidant.

“Why is this happening to me? Why me? Why not instead of you, I am the one who is in your place. So that I cannot feel this pain, this tormenting pain that burns and consumes me…” Mickey told himself.

He then continued, “Do you know how much I would trade just to be in your place? Everything! Life for me is, as if, useless! My mum left me and my dad when I was still a child. My dad on the other hand was never there when I needed him. Then Anika, she was my world you know? But still she did that… That is why I do strive and give it all for the basketball team. To forget all the chaotic things that is happening in my life. I already told her all about it, about my mom and my dad, yes, I told Anika… But I thought that she already knew, I thought that she already did understand. I thought that she cared. But I was awfully wrong, she’s like my mom, she had turned her back on me… Just left me in this pit of hell, lost in the middle of nowhere, just waiting for my doom.” Michael was messed up. He wanted to shout but decided not to. His Chinese eyes are now soggy and red.

He paused for awhile, trying to compose himself.

Then he held a grip of his very chaotic mind.

He then decided to reach out for David’s hands. The swelling due to the dextrose pins were still there. Upon touching it, he felt different. It was unlike when he first touched David’s cold hands. Now it was warm, it was a very calming feeling for him. Michael could not explain the feeling. He then stopped sobbing. Then he noticed something seemingly odd. He wasn’t sure if he was just tired when he saw this. But he saw that David was a bit smiling, that very smile that seems to be comforting, comforting that it seems that it was telling him that everything would be okay. He then again cried, but those tears were different from the earlier ones. There was a sense of joy on this new set of tears. He cried and cried to the point that he had fallen asleep. It was a very emotional and exhausting day for him. Nurse Sally went back to check on him, but she saw him sleeping beside David’s hospital bed. She decided to put a blanket on the now sleeping Michael Sy and she left for her night shift.

~*~

The next morning, Mickey was waked up by the sun’s rays from the window, and there beside her was her aunt Nana. As usual David was still on his bed, recuperating.

“Do you want some breakfast?” Aunt Nana asked Michael.

“Yes, but what time is it now Nana?” he asked.

“Well I think we can still grab some breakfast at a nearby fast food. It is just about twenty minutes before ten in the morning” Michael’s aunt answered.

Before leaving, Mickey tapped David’s hands and bid goodbye. Then they both left the room.

Upon closing the door, there were three strangers whose about to pass their way. It was a man about on his thirties, and another man about David’s age, and a girl. They were carrying flowers and a box of things.

“Kindly wait for me for five minutes Mickey at the parking lot. We’ll use my car.” Aunt Nana told Mickey. Well he didn’t actually mind. Maybe it is an urgent thing about work. So he went straight to his aunt’s car.

Dr. Nina Ricafuente drove her into the nearest fast food chain. She ordered some pancakes and some hot choco for both of them. Mickey was still dead silent. Not a single word was spoken since they entered the establishment. Much to her curiosity about hi nephew Mickey, Nina started the conversation.

“So how are you now Mickey? How’s school? And driving at four in the morning? Hmmm… If you aren’t just my favorite nephew, I won’t really know that there is this problem.” Nina told his now perfectly still Michael Sy.

Then he broke down into tears. But still he didn’t spoke of any word.

“Mickey, come on. Tell me…” Nina pleaded. She really felt that something was wrong with his nephew. He is like a son to her. She never had a son, but she has a daughter who now stays in the U.S.

“Nana, “real boys do cry” right? … But to be a real man, I should be the one who is going to solve my problems. I know I can do this. Please don’t worry anymore.” And he wiped off his tears.

Of course Nina already got Mickey’s message. She does know how straightforward Michael can be. She then tossed Mickey’s hair and gave him a tap on his head. Then they both had their breakfast and they both left. Now Michael was a bit at ease. With a brief talk from his aunt and a visit to David, his stress from last night’s mess had lightened away.

~*~

After the quick chat and breakfast with his aunt, Mickey drove off to his house. He picked up some stuff and went straight to school. He has a 2pm psychology class. After about thirty minutes, Jason Helguera, the basketball captain arrived and has given Mickey’s professor a short letter from Coach Fernandez.

“Mr. Sy, you are excused for the rest of day’s class. Mr. Fernandez wants to talk with you.” Miss Villaceran the psychology professor told Michael.

Jason Helguera accompanied Michael on his way to the coaches’ office. He was still dismayed after what had happen last night.

“Mickey, what was that? Can you tell me what’s the reason behind that brawl with Prado?”  El Capitan was very curious.

“Dude… Sorry but it is a bit personal.” That’s the only answer on which Michael can give to his basketball captain.

“But how can I defend you to Coach Leon?” Mr. Helguera was a bit worried with his trusted co-player Michael.

”Don’t worry pare… Just like before, I do know I can handle this.” And then they both entered Mr. Leon Fernandez’ office.

Joshua Prado was already there, quietly seating, but he looks worried at the same time annoyed.

“Helguera, you do have a 3pm class right? I can now take it from here. Lock the door.” Coach Leon ordered. Then Jason Helguera left the office. Tension was building up inside the room.

“Both of you stand up.” Upon standing up, Coach Leon Fernandez gave the two quick blows on their stomachs. The punches were a bit hard that both of them are now throbbing.

“Now we would talk like real men do. Are you man enough for this? Or you two are just both childish jerks just like last night?” the coach was very fiery.

“Coach, it was a man to man talk between this dumb-ass and …” Joshua was not yet through when…
SLAP! Jech-jech received a tough slap on the face from the coach.

“Don’t butt in when I am still talking… And you are acting like a brat again Prado, Tsk Tsk Tsk… And if you are mature enough to think, you won’t fuck up and had picked up a fight on my court.”

Now the two jocks were dead silent, both because of the physical pain that was caused by their coaches’ blow.

“And you Mr. Sy… Indeed you are a quiet and timid man or boy, maybe sometimes you could be a brat, and maybe and jus maybe you do have a very good future in sports. But that doesn’t mean anything. Marami ka pang dapat patunayan.” And Coach Leon walked and walked across the room.

“And there you are yesterday, you were like a dormant volcano who is about to erupt. Well you already did Mr. Sy! Bravo! But no matter what your differences or disputes are… I don’t care if you are the ace player or you are just a benched player of this team… You are all equal into my eyes. So remember that you should settle things outside my fucking court.” And he gave Michael this eye to eye stare.

“I hope that I already made a clear point out of this… You’ll both leave this office as men… real men that is… Shake your hands before leaving…” Both jocks were still aloof to make the move when…

“Whattafuck? Are you both pussies? You’ll just make a simple handshake… Or you wanted to do something else? Like a hug or a kiss maybe? Start it now, then you can both leave!” for the coaches’ sake, they did shook their hands. Joshua Prado ran off the office like a lighting bolt. Mr. Fernandez asked Mr. Sy to stay.

“Michael… I know we didn’t had the chance to have a serious talk since the accident happened, but if you just needed anything. We’re just here for you… You have been really silent lately…” and Coach Leon gave Michael a tap on his shoulder.

“And please, next time no fights, Okay? Or else I’ll give you and Prado a hit on your heads…” and Mr. Fernandez gave Michael a grin.

Michael smiled in return, “Coach the punch was enough and it still hurts, I won’t ask for another one…”
“Well then go! Before I’ll give you again one last blow!” and Mickey dashed out from Mr. Fernandez’ office.

~*~

Mickey was in good spirits, he didn’t mind the scene with Joshua Prado awhile ago. Rather he was looking forward on visiting a friend, a friend that gave him a reassuring smile last night. That very smile who had given him an insight that indeed, everything would be alright.

Michael left the school at about 5pm. He arrived at the hospital at about 6pm because of the rush hour traffic. He then parked conveniently on a parking slot beside his aunt’s car. Pick up some stuff and brought it to David’s room. He then arranged and hanged the said stuff around the blank walls of the patient’s room. Then Aunt Nana arrived with Mickey’s best buddy Chester, which he texted before going to the hospital.

“So what do you both think?” Mickey asked the two, they were in awe.

“Tita? Is he allowed to do this?” Chester asked Mickey’s Aunt Nana.

The Homophobic Series Book 2-A:
(CHAPTER 11)
The Finale Chapter for Book 2-A
"A Journey to Remember"

*** The road to 2 Twists***

Guys and Gals, thank you for supporting this series... This is like a labor of love to me, and I thank the people na naeenjoy ang mga stories ko... So this would be a finale like no other? Hahaha... I don't think so, kasi I wanted my stories to be as relatable as possible... :) So guys enjoy!

“You know… I miss this place… and I miss you…” and tinignan ko siya. And he is wearing shades at this time of the night.

“What’s with shades? Wala namang araw ha?” tanong ko kay Dane.

“Ah eto ba? Wala to’ Don’t mind it na lang po…” and as if may tinatago siya sa akin.

I just felt his very warm hands against mines. At first medyo hesitant pa siyang ipatanggal sakin yun, pero wala na siyang nagawa. Madilim ang paligid kaya hindi ko makita. Kaya kinuha ko ang mobile phone ko so that I could use the backlight, I was crushed upon seeing my baby’s face. His left eye was swollen, I could barely see his blue eyes, it was literally a black eye. And the other, well it is all red, Somehow his right eye reperesented the tears that he shed for the past days na nawala ako for him. I just felt the sorrow and excitement in him upon seeing me, after what happened between the two of us. Niyakap ko siya at nag-iiiyak.

“Sorry babe… Sorry for the pain that I have caused you… Hindi ko na po uulitin. What happened to you ba? It’s my entire fault, I’m unfair, I am so stupid and definitely I am very stubborn…” and he tried to hush me down, he told me na hindi ko raw kailangan mag paliwanag.

“Babe, It’s my entire fault, kasi hindi ko nasabi sayo yung nangayari, it was an honest mistake really, ang tanga tanga ko kasi hindi ko man lang nasabi sayo that Jake had a chaotic rel…” Dane wasn’t through with his explaining when I butted in.

“You don’t have to explain anything, I already knew what really happen, and I won’t be stupid next time…” and I just jumped on him and torridly kissed him.

We rolled over the carpeting of my apartment. And the mood shifted, sa tagal namin na hindi nagkita, and we just almost thought that we are inseperable, the kissing just went into physicalities of unprecedented proportions, nag ala Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt kami, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Binuhat niya ako into my kitchen countertop, and there he unzipped my fly. And then he had licked my legs. I was insane by that time that I spreaded my legs, while he licked on my testicles.

“Do you love that my baby?” he seducingly told me. Instead of answering him a yes, I just spanked his face in a manner that he never had it before.

“So I guess it’s a yes right?” he was now smiling, I could see his face because there were fireworks just along our condo window. Mukhang paumpisa na naman ang countdown.

Then I kicked him out, he said that he loved that. And sabay lapit sa kanya, licked his ear, sucked his neck, and back again to his lips, I could now feel again his gasp for air.

I then massaged his pecks.

I played with his hair and he played with mines. He said that he doesn’t want me to stop. Nakakabaliw, I am crazy for him really.

Mas lumakas pa ang fireworks outside. Mas lumiwanag, I stripped him off and banged him against the wall along our window. Licked his wet tight ass…

“Babe… Please come within me…” his eyes were almost like convulsing.

I inserted my middle finger in his man-hole and then I tried to make it two fingers at the same time and then by my third finger, he was like moaning with pain.

“Please don’t stop babe…” as my Dane pleaded.

When he told me that that was the signal that I should be now drilling him down.

Hindi ko na pinatagal, I was very wild by that time, I am really crazy about him. So I proceeded.

“Babe please, I really really wanted you inside me…” and his ass was so tight.

I kissed him, it was the moment that we are both waiting for.

January 2009

1st of January 2009

There were no countdowns this time. Ang alam ko lang is that it was so bright from outside. I just came into him. It was overflowing. We ended up lying on the carpet just along our windowpane.

“I love you Dane… Pasensya na kung wala man lang akong regalo sayo… Instead of making you happy, I have caused you so much pain…” it was the New Year already. It is a new beginning for the both of us.

“Happy Anniversary Babe!” and I just hugged him tightly.

“Raine, I just don’t need any material things in this world. Because for me the greatest gift that I ever received in my life is you babe…” and he just kissed me by my lips.

No words were said that night. I just hummed a song to him while I rest my head against his arms. We had just savored the starry night and had slept on the floor cuddling each other.

~*~

Pagising namin nalaman ko na lang that he is also wearing the Superman shirt that he had given himself last Christmas.

“Remember? I am your Lois Lane right… And you’re my Superman? Bakit? Hindi ba bagay sa akin? Hmpft…” tampo kong sinabi sa kanya.

“Babe naman eh, syempre bagay. Sexy mo nga eh… Kaya nga yan bigay ko sayo… Hehehe…” and he just kissed me after that.

I later found out that nakipag-away pala siya that night when Jake and I had a confrontation.

He was that drunk that night kaya nag-alburuto siya after having so much to drink.

I really feel sorry for what had happen to him because of my wrongdoings. Happy Anniversary! xoxoxo

8th of January 2009

It has been a week, buti na lang at nag subside na ang black eye ng Dane ko. And with the magic of make-up, to be specific using a concealer, parang binura nito ang mga natirang bakas na nasa kanyang mga mata. My Dane looks like a very shiny penny.

“Mr. Rios, I just received this e-mail from Mr. Russell from the States…” he told me that in a very serious tone.

“What’s with the formality babe? You don’t usually call me by my last name pag tayo lang ang mag-kasama.” I know that somehow he is upto something.

“Hehehe… Here’s the thing babe… This paper that I just printed a while ago is a letter from Mr. Russell that allows us or maybe certifies us to use his private island for our commitment ceremony on May…” and he just blurted this awesome surprise to me.

“Seriously? Tell me that you are just kidding…” I was just blown away by the said message.

“Do I look like that I am kidding you babe? And besides he already offered his estate for our event on May nung nandito pa siya last November right?” and my baby Dane had handed me the said letter.

This means one thing, Dane and I could already start on preparing for the details on our commitment ceremony.

“Babe, we just have like several months on preparing on our destination wedding.” As Dane reminded me.

“Yuppie… and we don’t have yet someone to officiate on our commitment ceremony.” I also reminded him.

“Well our friend Jake has referred someone. We might as well check his suggestion. And babe, why not use the term wedding instead of the very long term commitment ceremony. Anyways it is just the same, nasa sa atin na lang yun on how we should interpret that right? Hehehe…” and niyakap na naman niya ako.

“Hehehe…Somehow I do agree with you. We just make our own complications in life. Dane… lahat kasi nag-faflash sa utak ko ngayon. Imagine there are so many things to think about, from the invitations, to the souvenirs, the entertainment, and what about the caterer? Eh wala namang caterer dun sa private island ni Mr. Russell right? Oh my, bakit nga ba ngayon ko lang pinag-iisip ang mga ganito” and napabuntong hininga lang ako upon saying that, while I sit on my baby’s lap.

“Hmmm… Would you like us to hire a wedding planner? Ayaw ko kasi na ma-pressure ang baby ko…” as he blew some air to my ears. I could smell his minty fresh breath.

“Kaya natin to Dane… Gusto ko kasi personalized yung wedding natin… Minsan lang naman to eh… And kailan ba ang next na event na ganito? Sa silver or gold anniversary natin? Hahaha…” and we just ended up laughing.

11th of January 2009

Well it is a very sunny Sunday. Buti na lang at available si Jake for today, kasi magpapasama kami with the person who’s going to officiate our so-called wedding. Last night kasi I have already checked the website of the “Order” that somehow officiates or let’s just say conducts the union of two men. Actually mas lalong nabuksan ang isip ko after reading much of the details in their website. Kaya I was so ecstatic on visiting the place which is located somewhere in Quezon City.

“Actually Fr. Mc Lain officiated/blessed my lesbian friend’s Holy Union. Me and my Ex were planning to get wed na rin by that time, upon attending her event, kaso ayun nga ang nangyari.” Kwento ni Jake as he reminisce the times with his ex.

I do know by that time that Jake was a very nice person who deserves to be loved by someone.

Holy Union is the official term of the sacred ritual that is used if two people are bounded together by Love. It is a sacred ritual which does not involve any laws of government, wheter it is between a man and woman, a man and a man, or a woman and a woman who desire to have a holy union.

The meeting with Fr. Mc Lain went well. He was a man of God who is about in his eighties, but you could see it in his eyes that he has a lot to say about love, commitment and devotion to God whether you are straight or even gay. We had requested him if we could have his blessing and if we could have him as an officiator to our Holy Union. And after hearing our story walang ka second second thoughts and he agreed with it. He just advised us to attend several counseling requirements before our actual wedding day.

17th of January 2009

Although Dane and I had our engagement, we haven’t had our engagement party yet. So we just decided to have an impromptu event by tomorrow. It is a good thing that we already had booked a restaurant last Monday. And we had adviced our sister Mandy a week ahead so that she could attend his brother’s engagement party.

18th of January 2009

We had our engagement party in a Chinese restaurant somewhere in Glorietta. And our theme? What else? Ala Chinese royalty. We adviced our guest to wear some Chinese inspired formal wear. Feeling ko tuloy the event just came out from a “Mano Po” movie, the unconservative version.

Most of our closest friends and family were there. To name a few were of course my Sex in the City friends namely Lucky, Tats and Elijah. Hahaha… My distant cousin Marielle was also there, alongside our colleagues and friends in our department and our firm. Jenny was also there with a girl friend. Keiji, Dane’s photographer colleague also went into our party. Of course we also had invited Jake and his friend Jill. We also had invited our gym trainor Nice and syempre hindi namin nakalimutan si Ms. Emina Malagueña and she went with her assistant sa art gallery. Medyo nag-alala nga kami dahil wala pa si Mandy pero at the last minute nakarating din siya. Hindi na siya nagpasundo sa airport so that maasikaso man lang daw namin ung mga bisita sa aming engagement party.

And then we had proceeded to the main dinner. Everything went well as usual, everyone seems to be so much acquainted that night. Mandy was beside my Dane and beside me were my friends and my cousin consecutively. Then the main course that night was served, it was Peking duck, and it meant as a signal for us to give a message to our guests that night.

My Dane stood first and he took my hand as I stood up. He is wearing this red Chinese collared long-sleeved shirt.

“Friends and collegues… Thank you… For being here in this milestone of our lives.” As my Dane started his speech, you could see that our guests were truly involved because they listen on every single word that he says.

“We’re all here tonight for one cause, for one celebration. For this night me and my baby here, my Raine, would like to formally announce our engagement to our closest friends and family. But for me this is a different kind of celebration, for me this is somehow personal, now I could tell the whole world how much I do love my baby… That somehow in the next few months, Raine and I would be wed, we would both be united as one…” and my Dane paused for a while as he bit his lips. And from nowhere his voice became shaky.

“For me Raine is not just Raine. For his friends, co-workers and colleagues alike, Raine is a friend, and a very dependable one. But for me Raine… Yes, my Raine… is a blessing… Seeing him smile everyday when he wakes up from our bed just tells me that everything is going to be alright throughout the whole day. For the very longest time in my life I have longed for someone who would make me feel that kind of feeling…” and he paused again. “I couldn’t ask for more…” and he just broke down to tears.

The mood just came into a shift from a very festive one to this emotional happiness. I could see some of our closest friends who were now teary eyed. Imbes na maiyak ako I just told myself that I do needed to be composed at least. I tried to speak up, to at least open up my mouth. But I don’t really know on what to say. And I tapped my Dane’s back and I started to talk…

“Yes somehow this is a celebration of our lives. Not just the lives of us two, but the lives we shared with the people that we love. It is estimatedly five months, eighteen weeks, and exactly one hundred thirty days before our wedding day. Paano ko nalaman? Well syempre excited ako, so I computed it just this morning…” and natawa sila pagkatapos kong sabihin yun.

“Pero would you believe that way before, it never occurred in my mind that I do wanted to be wed with someone? Well lalo na with the same sex…. Hey, hey, I hope that you don’t get the wrong impression sa sinabi ko. Pero with the most sincerest thoughts, even though I do know I was gay. Hindi lang talaga sumagi sa isip ko na darating ang pagkakataong ito sa buhay ko. And then Dane came into my life, and then he proposed to me. In the sweetest manner that any gay man could ever ask for. And the rest they say is history. Pero hindi ganun ang nangyari, it isn’t history for us. Kasi every day is like a page that unfolds for both of us. Whether it is a sad memory or a strand of happiness. We do treasure each moment na magkasama kami.” Ako naman ang natahimik. Dane took my hand and had squeezed it really tight.

“You see… I am an orphan for almost a decade now. The only family that I know is my distant cousin Marielle who now sits with me on this table. But when I met Dane, when I met Mandy and her son Dominic everything changed. I was revitalized, as if I gained new life. I really felt accepted. I did find a family in them… Thank you my baby… Thank you…” and I just hugged him and I just ended up bursting into tears. This time our guests were now weeping with the both of us.

Napayakap din tuloy sis Mandy sa amin. Along with my best friends. And then Mandy gave her own speech.

“Raine… From the very first time that I saw you I do know that you would be a great addition to our family. Pasensya nga lang medyo iyaking family ang pamilya namin ni Dane ha…” Mandy tried her best in speaking our native language, but it was very slang sounding that laughter was heard again inside that restaurant because she was even laughing at herself.

“But I just do want to thank you for choosing the twenty-eight of May to be the day of celebrating your new life with my brother, but as well as commemorating the memory of our mum Isabelle. It is like our mom would also be a part of this momentous event. Thank you Raine! Thanks my new little bro.”

And Dane just whispered unto my ears, “Thank you babe…”

My best friend Lucky held a glass of wine, and had proposed for a toast.

“To the newly engaged couple Dane and Raine… It’s now a race to the altar!” and we had a sip on our drinks, everyone had congratulated us on that very moment.

Napakasaya ko talaga that night kasi I do see it on my Dane’s face that he is overjoyed with everything. Parang gusto ko ng Happy Meal after writing this journal entry babe. Hehehe… Mwah!

24th of January 2009

Well I thought having an impromptu engagement party was harder. Sa una pa lang medyo overwhelming na ang budget for a destination wedding. We are inviting about fifty guest in the islands of Palawan. Paano kaya ang catering? Well buti na lang Mr. Russell had built a Villa at the island kaya less na sa worries namin ang accommodation. How about the wedding theme? Since sa beach yun paano kaya ang magandang gawin? And from nowhere bigla na lang lumapit si Dane at binasa yung mga pinagsususlat ko.

“What’s with the question marks on this paper babe?” nagtataka siya sa nabasa niya.

“Babe naman eh… Do you see the enormous budget that we’re going to splurge?” sabi ko sa kanya.

“Ayy… My Raine… Don’t worry… The budget would be the least of your worries…” first time namin kasi pag-uusapan ang mga ganitong bagay. Getting married is a different story.

By Monday we should be going into the bank and maybe it is now the time for us to have a joint account.” My hubby Dane suggested.

Joint account? If marriage never entered in my mind before. Joint account pa, Raine Raine, this is it na talaga. Then what’s next? Thinking of the future of our children? Hahaha.

26th of January 2009

After going to work we decided to visit my friend Tat’s couture house in upscale Makati. We first opted for a formal look but after realizing that we’re having our ceremnony at the beach, we decided to go for some breezy, easy, ready to wear semi-formal beach look.

We just reserved our formal wear for our out of the country honeymoon. Hehehe.

February 2009

14th of February 2009

My Dane and I had dinner on this posh white restaurant. Kaya pala he asked me to wear white. Actually I am not a fan of whites. Pero nung nakita ko ung grandeur nung place I was very impressed and I just naturally fell in love with it. Now I do know the theme for my wedding. It would be an all-white party! White party ba kamo? Di ba sa Malate nangyayari yun? “,)

22nd of February 2009

It was our first counseling session with Fr. James Mc Lain. Everything wen’t well naman. As long as God is in the center of our lives, and we are both bounded by love, and wala kaming tinatapakan na tao, nothing or noone could come between us.

March 2009

7th of March 2009

Three months to go. It is the moment that Dane and I are waiting for. Pero bago ang lahat kailangan ayusin muna ang mga detalye for our said “Main Event”

We are not yet halfway sa mga bagay na dapat namin na I settle.

“Babe, Keiji my photographer colleague offered his services for our ceremony. Okay yun. Mailibre man lang tayo ng mokong. Ang daming mga raket nun lately…” and Dane was just laughing and laughing.

At least nabawasan na ang worries ko. Keiji kasi is a freelance photgapher and videographer at the same time. I already saw his works and I was amazed with what he can do with his cameras. As if he captures magical moments on film.

14th of March 2009

So many details to consider pero somehow everything is falling into place. Lucky and and Elijah already had agreed that they would be the emcees for our wedding and Tats said that his sevices and his expertise for our wedding clothes and for the wedding entourage are all for free. Ang nakakatuwa pa almost half of our guest had expressed that they would be going to the venue at their own expense, sa totoo lang nahihiya ako about that, but most of them insisted na okay lang. Kaya I do needed to deliver a great wedding program for them para mag enjoy naman sila. Am I pressured? Hahaha… medyo…

I am planning to hire a professional bossa nova singer. So that we could set a joyous yet subtle mood. Comedic performances would be coming from who else? Lucky and Tats… Para ano pa at naging gay sila. Hahaha.  Sa catering… Medyo isip talaga ako. Gosh, siguro nakailang inquire nako sa ilang catering services. Pero gosh, sobra namang mahal. Keyso destination wedding daw. Anu ba yan. Sa sobrang pagka stress out ko binuksan ko na lang ung visual radio ko sa celphone and I browsed on some FM stations, and then there is this Indian/English song na medyo familiar ang vocals sa akin. It was Nicole Scherzinger, it was a Pussycat Dolls Song, the beat was so nice na napasayaw ako. Kaya I got online kagad and decided to download the song “Jai Ho” at I-tunes and inilagay ko kagad sa aking I-pod touch. All day hanggang isunusulat ko yata tong journal entry na to eto Jai Ho pa rin ang song na pinakikinggan ko. Hehehe.

23rd of March 2009

After going to work dumerecho kami ni Dane sa mall, naghahanap kasi kami ng ideal na souvenirs for our guests. Naisip ko na parang wala namang accent if it is just an all white wedding. So Dane and I agreed to add up the color silver to our white theme. Pero anu namang silver na souvenir?

We didn’t get the conventional one, instead Dane decided that assortments of anything silver would be really nice. And it would be like a raffle. The guests would just present their invitations and they’ll have to pick a prize/souvenir. From silver spoons, silver necklaces, bracelets, trinkets… Etc. It is surely a fun way giving souvenirs. And at least magagamit nila yun right?

5th of April 2009

I am a bit busy cooking that morning when I have heard our phone ringing. Dane was watching the first Transformers movie on the television and narining kong hininaan niya yung TV. After some minutes he handed me our cordless phone.

“Babe, sino ito?” I’ve asked him.

“Just answer it…” and my Dane just smiled.

“Hello, this is Raine speaking.” As I introduce myself.

“So how’s my future godson?” The voice was familiar. It was Mr. Russell. Sa pagkagulat ko I just turned off our stove.

“Oh my… How are you sir? I am doing fine too sir…” I just don’t know if I am actually making sense. I’ve seen my baby Dane had opened the stove again.

“Raine, Raine… Wayne Patrick would just do. I’ll just want to deliver a good news for you… About the food at your wedding. You should not be worrying about that. I’ve adviced my personal chef to head the committee for the food service that I had commissioned. So that you and Dane could have a smooth  wedding party at my private island okay? I couldn’t stay any longer on the phone. But I do really wish you both the best.” Mr. Russell said. I was in cloud nine after hearing that. Parang nabawasan ang iisipin ko.

“Aray…” napasigaw ang Dane ko. Natalsikan siya ng mantika kasi he continued on the fish that I was cooking.

He looked relieved when the flow of running water went unto his skin. I took this ointment for burns inside our kitchen cupboard and had applied it on the burnt area of his skin. Namula kagad to, I really feel sorry for my Dane. Ang puti puti niya, then ngayon namumula ang braso niya. Baka on the next day mamaga pa.

“Babe are you sure that you are okay?” and hinihipan ko ung affected area ng kanyang skin. Hindi naman siya sumagot. And from nowhere may inlabas siya. It was tickets, concert tickets to be exact.

Binasa ko naman kaagad. “Front Row tickets for the Pussycat Dolls: Doll Domination Concert here in Manila on July 11, 2009” talagang complete kong binasa. Hahaha! Na excite ako. Napatalon ako kay Dane and I hugged him.

“Manunuod tayo ng concert ng PCD? Yahoo!” at napahigpit pa ang yakap ko.

Napansin ko na lang na medyo teary eyed si Dane.

“Babe, bakit ka naman naiiyak?” napatanung naman ako.

“Eh kasi po masakit…” my Dane answered. He was in pain, naisip ko napaso nga pala siya.

Raine. Tanga tanga mo talaga. Hahaha! Xoxo… Kiss na lang kita baby ko…

11th of April 2009

It has been exactly a year since my Dane proposed to me at the rooftop in a hotel somewhere in Ortigas. Pag malakas ang trip naming dalawa, instead na matulog sa kama we do sleep on the carpet just beside our window. And on this night dito kami ulit natulog. The stars were shining that night. We just held our hands across the sky. And we just played with our hands as well as our rings.

“Dane… Paano kaya kung hindi ka nag-apply with our firm? Do you think we would be like this?” ewan ko ba kung bakit ko natanong yon. Basta natanong ko lang.

“If I didn’t had the chance on applying in our firm, I guess destiny would just pave its way so that I could find you… This may be an endless sky of universe, and it may be a galaxy of stars… But you are the only visible star for me Raine, because in my heart you are just the only one who shines…” he poeticly told me.

Si Dane talaga, napayakap na naman ako sa kanya after hearing that from him.

“What if babe… I wasn’t born on this lifetime? What would become of us?” ewan ko nga kung may sense ba ang tanong ko.

Natahimik siya, hindi siya nakasagot. I know that it is such a stupid question for me to ask.

“Babe… Don’t mind it… I know that it is such a ridiculous question…” I told him.

Pero hindi siya natahimik, kaya he tried on answering it.

“I’ll die… I’ll die for you, kahit ilang beses pa. So that I could catch up with your lifetime… Kasi I won’t live without you…” he whispered that into my ear. I don’t know if I would feel eerie or happy upon hearing that. Mixed emotions ang naramdaman ko upon hearing it. I just look at his eyes and told him…

“Me too Dane… I can’t live witout you…”After that statement no words were told again that night. Hanggang sa nakatulog kaming dalawa…

2nd of May 2009

Stag Party for grooms, Shower Party for the brides… We decided that we could just have one party for the both of us, much like what Elton John and his partner did at their party. Hindi naman kami babae to call it a Shower or a Hen Party. And definitely were not manly enough para tawagin na Stag party. Hehehe…

“Why not a Happy Party?” I suggested to Dane, kaso binawi ko kasi masyadong vague ung term. A party is usually happy naman right?

“Hmmm… Why not call it a Colt party? Buddy Party? Let’s not complicate ourselves, let’s just call it a M2M Party? Make sense right? You’re a man and I’m a man.”my Dane said while laughing.

“Hmmm… Babe, an M n’ M party would be cuter. Remember after the chocolates candies?” tawa din ako ng tawa. Kaso I told Dane that their might be infringement issues kung yun man ang gagamitin.

“Then why not spell it as eM n’ eM Party instead naming it after the sweets right?” my Dane suggested.

“So today the 2nd of May 2009, these sorts of parties are to be called eM n’ eM parties… Hehehe…” as my Dane jokingly officiates that term.

Well it did make sense, kaya I just texted our gay friends about it. May alam kasi si Jill na friend ni Jake of a place na pwede namin puntahan. I never went into a gay bar pa kasi before. And he told me na safe naman dun sa place kasi kaka-raid lang a month ago. Hahaha.

Kaya namin napagdesisyonan na ganun at least it’s like hanging out in some place na hindi pa namin napupuntahang dalawa pero at least we do have the same interest sa mga kasama namin. At marami silang choices. Instead hiring a stripper at our place, Hehehe.

So we drove into the mall at pumunta na kami sa napag-usapang restaurant. And I was amazed, walang na late sa kanilang lahat. Hahaha… Well aside un kay Jake na sumabay sa amin ni Dane going there. After we had some pasta and large slices of pizzas, we just had coffee at Starbucks. After that very long chit-chat about our plans tonight we then proceeded to our so called eM n’ eM party.

“Madilim ba talaga rito Jill?” tanong ko sa kanya.

“Yup, and don’t worry safe naman ngayon… Natimbrehan nako ng contact ko… Kasi nagpadulas na sila with the authorities…” paliwanag nito.

We were seated sa dulo ng parang catwalk stage ng bar. Still, it was a bit dark. All I can see were silhouettes of people. Hinawakan ako ng mahigpit ni Dane. Alam ko naman on why he does that.
And then there were red lights. I was surprised marami-rami din ang tao ha. Siguro they are having their bachelorette party… Hehehe…

We ordered some food and some drinks, and maya maya pa, the show did start. As usual sensual music was played. It was costume fantasy night theme pala that night.

Hahaha.

And after some minutes of dancing, the stripping did start…

“Babe, nothing compares with yours here… Hehehe…” I whispered unto him.

“Okay lang, please don’t mind us… Enjoy lang din kayo… We’re enjoying the show naman…” I answered Jill.

And then their star model just came out wearing a sportsman attire… And he was the very last man who stripped his clothes off.

It was huge… Pero I was overwhelmed, parang over naman yata sa laki.

“Babe baka pagpalit mo ako sa ganyan ha…” bulong ni Dane.

“Dane naman… Just like what I’ve said earlier, nothing compares to you… Kasi we are a perfect fit…” and then I kissed him.

Maya-maya pa nakita kong sumensyas si Jill with someone… And nagulat na lang ako ng bumaba ung sportsman model and he started dancing around Dane and I.

My baby was composed, alam naman niya na it was purely fun.

Willing daw sila mag splurge for tonight.

Kami ni Dane we just checked in at a hotel at the back of the CCP complex.

Hehehe… Mwah! “,)

3rd of May 2009

We went into SM Megamall so that we could pick up our invitations for our wedding. It had a simple envelope with a silver paper band and written on it… “United as One”. The invitation wasn’t in the traditional format instead it was just a piece of card and it says…

4th of May 2009

We had given our invitations to our corresponding guest. Their reaction to it was nice. Ang dami nga namin na receive na immediate RSVP’s that day. We had also mailed our invites to some of our family and friends who are outside Manila and who’s outside the country. It is estimately three weeks siguro for our wedding day. I am so excited about it. Pero with all the excitement may naalala akong isang detail. I just wanted to get rid of my Dane’s inhibitions about his dad, and so I decided to make my own step. I reserve an invitation for his dad. I consulted Mandy about it, at first she was a bit hesitant about the idea but I had convinced her that it is somehow the best thing to do… I asked for their address in Texas and I’ve sent it to the elder Sto. Domingo.

Inside the invitation was a note, I hope that he reads it…

15th of May 2009

This is the last day for our RSVP list because this is the same day that we are closing the deal with the airline company that we had chartered for our destination wedding. To our delight everyone that we had invited had confirmed that they would be going on to our wedding. So everything naman is smooth sailing…

17th of May 2009

Dane was watching Good Morning America on our TV while I was in our home office on that very moment when our landline phone rang. I just casually answered the phone as I usually do when I had realized that I remembered the voice from the other line. Napako ako sa pagkakaupo ko… It was Dane’s dad Mr. Robert Sto. Domingo. But the peculiar thing was he was composed this time. He has no signs of giving me somehow of a remark.

“Adrian, I just hope to see you on the day before your ceremony. I would be in Manila at the 27th of May 2009 at about 1:30pm at NAIA terminal 2, please don’t tell anything about this to my son… I just wanted to surprise him… I hope to see you there…” Dane’s dad explained to me.

“Okay sir, I would be there…” as I answered him.

Well I think my move had work, at least a surprise would be something to look forward to. I hope positive naman ang kalabasan. Pero kinabahan talaga ako at first ha…

18th of May 2009

“Raine, by Sunday Mandy, Allen and Dominic would be here already. Since nakapagfile na tayo ng leave weeks ago for our wedding, we could be at the island as early as the 25th of May… Okay naman na babe yung ibang details right? So at least we could just spend the earlier days exploring the island. Di ba masaya yun?” sabi sakin ni Dane. Mahilig talaga sa adventure ang baby kong to.

Kaso Raine there is this one problem. You would have to meet Dane’s dad on the 27th.

“Dane…” pa-sweet kong sinabi.

“Bakit babe?” as he check his laptop with some things.

“Here’s the thing, I am not really sure kung makakasama ako kagad by Monday. Pero definitely makakasama ako sa pagsundo natin sa kanila sa Sunday…” I instantly told him.

“Bakit naman? I thought settled na ang lahat? Babe naman eh… Minsan na nga lang yung ganung experience di ba? May mga i-sesettle ka pa ba this week…?” biglang naging worried ang baby ko.

“Hmmm… Babe may honeymoon pa naman tayo…  Let’s just say may aayusin lang ako… I hope you understand… Think of it as a surprise… Ayaw mo nun may surprise ako sayo…” paliwanag ko sa kanya.

“Raine… I don’t really get it? Surprise? I don’t need any of it. Makasama lang kita okay nako…” and bigla siyang nagmukmok.

“Babe naman eh… Please…” nakiusap nako sa kanya.

Pero hindi siya natinag sa pagkakaupo niya. He didn’t even utter any word. First time ko siyang nakita na ganun.

“Well fine! Ayaw mo, eh di ayaw mo!” and I walk-out his office.

Hindi naman sumunod sa akin. So it means may tampo pa nga siya. Hindi kami nag-kita up until mag uwian.

Dane ordered me. Seryoso niyang sinabi un ha. Nanibago tuloy ako.

The whole time na nandun kami sa kotse no word was spoken. I served him some dinner, and then we ate. He washed the dishes. I took my bath and nahiga na ako.

Eight, nine, ten, eleven, hanggang midnight… Hindi ako mapakali, at hindi rin makatulog. Nararamdaman ko na ganun din siya. We were like looking the opposite ways kaya hindi ko siya makita.

Sorry, kasi I was so childish this morning. I was that irrational na hindi man lang ako nag-iisip that you do still have the free will to think. Sorry my Raine… I don’t want to be a dictator. I just wanted to be your lover. A lover that would love you and understand you for the rest of your life…” ayan na naman, nagiging poetic na naman si Dane.

“Baby Dane ko… Alam ko it came as a shock na hindi pa ako kaagad makakasama sa resort. Pero I tell you that I do have the sincerest intentions para sa gagawin ko Dane. Trust me on this…” and then humarap ako sa kanya and I kissed him.

One thing led to another and we ended up making love that night. Tama nga ung kasabihan na masarap nga ang make up sex or rather make up-make love. Let’s just say that it is one of the best love making that we ever had. He had reached my soul that night.

“Mukhang ang next na natin na ganito babe is on our honeymoon na… Galing-galing mo kasi my Raine…” and he kissed me all over my face. Sa dami hindi ko na nabilang.

“Naughty ka talaga Dane! I can’t wait na rin babe for that day that we are going to be wed…” and I just gave him a one long sweet kiss on his lips.

24th of May 2009

“Uncle Raine! Uncle Dane!” it was little Dominic he was rushing towards us.

“Dominic, you got taller… That’s very nice…” Dane told his nephew.

“But where are your mum and dad?” I asked the little boy.

“We are just here, Raine this is my husband Allen…” first time ko makaharap si Allen. He was quite tall pala. And he was very charming, much like his wife and son.

“Nice meeting you Raine… It is good that I’ve now met my new brother-in-law… Wait is that even the proper way to say it? Maybe just a brother would do…” Allen jokingly said. And we all ended up laughing.

On our way to our condo marami rami din napag-usapan. Later that night we dined out. Ang dami nakain ni little Dominic. And we had some coffee at Figaro. After some short chit chat umuwi na rin kami.

Allen and Dominic went into our guest room already. While naiwan ako sa kusina habang naghahanda ng mga dadalhin nilang pagkain for their flight to Palawan tomorrow. Then Mandy came, ititimpla niya kasi si Dominic ng gatas.

“Dane already told me that you are not going with us by tomorrow. Raine, have you had the chance on talking to him?” Mandy was referring to Dane’s dad Robert.

Ayaw ko ng ilihim sa kanya yung sitwasyon, tutal naman she knew of my plan from the very start.

“Sis… I just feel that it is the right thing to do. I do know that whatever differences that we do have in this life, I know that we could settle it as long as we just talk about it…” I explained to her.

“But Uncle Robert is a different story Raine… Are you sure that you do wanted to pursue this?” nag-aalalang tanung ni Mandy.

“Without a doubt Sis… And I have some faith in HIM… I do know that I could convince him to change his mind, not for me, but at least for his son Dane, my Dane, our Dane…” and niyakap ko si Mandy.

25th of May 2009

Everything was packed for the event on Thursday. Mr. Russell already had told us that they already had chartered a flight that day going to their island in Palawan. That means from the international airport they would be going straight to NAIA 3 going to their Pride island resort.

While the Parker family which consists of Mandy, Dominic and Allen is booked on a 10am flight going there. Of course my Dane is with them.

“Uncle Raine, why aren’t you going with us?” malungkot na sinabi ng bata sa akin.

Instead na ako ang sumagot si Mandy na ang sumagot for me. “Uncle Raine would just order some vanilla ice cream for you… That is why he is on a separate flight with us…” pang-uuto ni Mandy sa anak niya.

“Yes little one… Gallons and gallons of ice cream just for you… And I would also get some cashews for you…” and I tossed off the little kid’s hair.

“Really? Thanks Uncle Raine!” he really got excited and he kissed me and he went unto his dad Allen.

“So I guess babe that this is it. Sana mapaaga mo pa ang pagpunta mo sa island. There is so much to see  na gusto ko ipakita sayo.  But I won’t hurry you po. Just take your time my baby.” And niyakap niya ako. Kakaibang yakap yun. Hindi ko maipaliwanag. I had goosebumps on that very moment. Anu ba yan Raine…

“My Dane…” and hinimas ko ang kanyang napakinis na mukha and I stared at his eyes… “No matter where you are babe… I’ll just be your shining star…” and I gave him a kiss and he smiled back. Maraming nagtinginan. Yung iba looked disgusted, but I don’t care… Hehehe… Medyo inaayos ko pa kasi yung isinusulat ko eh.

And umalis na nga ang buong family for today’s flight. Alam kong paalis si Dane now, but this is the first time na nawalay ako sa kanya na I don’t really feel empty. Kasi I do know that I do have something to look forward to on the coming days.

27th of May 2009

Tomorrow is my wedding day, and today I am going to meet Dane’s dad Robert. In the past few days mukha nga akong matapang on meeting him.

I arrived at NAIA Terminal 2 at about 1pm, mahirap ng ma-late, military man yata yung i-mimeet ko. After some minutes dumating na siya. The introduction was a bit flat, pero wala namang tension, and then someone was calling me by my phone, I though it was Dane kaya I excused myself with Mr. Sto. Domingo.

“Raine si Elijah to… Nasa Palawan ka na right? Kasi parang nakita kita sa Terminal 2. Eh nagkamali tong taxi driver sa airport na pupuntahan ko. Kaya ayan harurot ako ngayon papunta sa Terminal 3 ngayon… I hope makaabot ako sa flight mamaya” paliwanag ng friend ko.

Of course nagsinungaling ako. I don’t want to spoil my surprise for my Baby Dane… “Yup, medyo busy lang ngayon, tumutulong kasi ako sa pagsasaayos ng mga rooms nyo… Hey ingat sa byahe ha… Kita kits maya-maya…”

And natapos na ang maikling usapan namin ni Elijah. I’ve noticed that Dane texted but I decided to go straight to Mr. Sto. Domingo. And we talked… We went into this coffee shop at the airport and on that very moment we have laid our cards there.

28th of May 2009

My Wedding Day!
Hahaha!
