“What was that dude?” Mr. Ylano asked.

“Well I deserved it. I wasn’t thinking” Mickey answered.

“Huh? What do you mean with you actually deserved it?” Chester was confused with what his best buddy just said.

“Nevermind. Come on Ches… Maybe I just needed something to drink.” As Mickey invited Mr. Ylano.

Pare, drinking alcohol would not actually solve your problem…” as Chester cautioned his friend.

“That’s silly… What I mean with a drink is maybe we could just have some coffee and maybe we could chill…” as Mr. Sy cleared up to Chester on his intention for his invite.

So both of them and the rest of the team had hit on the showers and had separated ways. Joshua Prado was the very first person who left the gym, of course he’s with Anika. And the last two guys who left were Chester and Mickey.

When they were about to leave, someone from behind has called Mr. Sy’s attention.

“Michael!” it was a familiar voice, it was the assistant coach Mr. Bong Aguila.

“Yes coach?” Mickey then politely answered.

“Can I have a minute with you?” Mr. Aguila asked. Chester then understood on what their coach meant by this.

“It’s okay Mr. Aguila, I’ll just go ahead. I’ll just wait for Mickey at the parking lot. Bye coach!” and Mr. Ylano hurriedly left the vicinity.

On the other hand Michael had already observed the expression on Mr. Aguila’s face. He is a bit worried maybe at the same time disappointed.

“Michael iho… Is everything doing well between you and Jechs? I know that this is a personal question to ask but have you already set aside your differences with each other?” as the anxious Mr. Aguila had thrown the question to Mr. Sy.

Well Mickey was not surprised at all with his coach’s query.

“Hmmm… To tell you honestly coach, I am just having a mind set that in due time, maybe everything would eventually go well. I am just being open-minded with things. These kinds of stuff, this really happens, and someday it would just further go away. Don’t you worry coach, wag po kayong mag-alala ni Coach Leon… Magkakaayos din po kami ni Joshua…” and Mr. Nice guy gave Mr. Aguila this reassuring smile.
Coach Bong did get Mickey’s message, he was secured with his jocks pledge that in due time everything would be alright. After that short conversation Mickey bid farewell to Mr. Aguila and he immediately went into the parking lot on where Chester was waiting for him.

“What was that all about dude?” Mr. Ylano was a bit curious with Mickey’s talk with coach Bong because Mr. Aguila was the quiet type of person and for him to actually have a chat with his buddy, well that is somehow new.

“It was just a petty thing…” Mickey lied. He just doesn’t want to further fuel the issue between him and Joshua Prado.

So the two decided to already hit off the road, they went into this nifty coffee shop and they already had their drinks.

Mickey and Chester were quite popular, especially with the girls. Even if those said girls came from another school. They had their ways to somehow flirt with the two. And there is this one girl who actually had asked for Chester’s autograph.

“You are such a ladies’ man dude…” as Mickey mocked his buddy.

“Whatever!” as if Chester was bothered with that fact.

“So, by the way, how was your date earlier today?” Mickey was not yet through pestering his buddy.

“Stop that… I told you it wasn’t really a date, and besides I just met that person today. Not really a big deal.” Defensively Chester said.

“Hmmm… So you had an E.B.?” as Mickey asked his fellow team mate.

And Chester replied, “as in an Eye-Ball?” and he continued. “Nah, we just chatted… I told you, it’s not really such of a big deal…”

Mr. Nice guy or should we say Mr. Naughty guy was not yet through with Chester, and then he said… “Is she pretty?”as Michael whispered it to his buddy, as in mocking him.

For a while Chester Ylano had blushed with that awkward situation. Plus the fact that there were these boys from another table who were staring at them, as if he felt that they were being talked about.

Gago ka tol’…” and he jokingly pushed Mickey away.

“Huh? I was just merely asking?” and Mr. Sy just went puzzled.

Wala… Since girls na rin ang pinag-uusapan natin. What happened a while ago with you and Anika?” and somehow Chester had managed to open the Anika topic.

“Hmmm… Let’s just say that I still care for her. But don’t get me wrong with that. Somehow it’s already fading away between the two of us. I just hated the fact that Jechs is somehow trashing her in some way” as Mickey explained to his buddy.

“So can you say that you already had moved on?” seriously Chester asked.

“To tell you frankly, not yet. I know it’s not that easy. But I am coping with it and I know someday I will totally forget all about it” Mickey answered.

Then there was this sudden silence. Chester was just staring at Mickey’s face, while the latter is busy mixing the froth from his coffee. Then all of a sudden Mickey shifted his face, in a panic Mr. Ylano had just bowed his head.

“Is there anything wrong Ches?” Mr. Nice guy just asked his buddy.

“Nothing… Maybe I should have my coffee, it’s already getting warm.” As Chester shifted the topic to his coffee and he furthermore distracted Mickey by opening about David Castillejos.

“The nurse just visited his room minutes after you left. He’s improving. Actually I’ve met two of his friends/colleagues from his job.” And Michael told the detailed story of their encounter. And after some minutes,

“So how do you find them?” Chester suddenly got curious.

“Well they were nice of course… Actually one of them is funny… What’s his name again?” and Michael remembered, “Yeah, his name is Adam and David’s boss’ name is Allen.”

“Allen you say?” suddenly Chester just blurted.

“Why? Do you know of anyone who’s name is Allen?” Mickey was a bit bewildered.

“Oh well, not really, and besides there are quite a number of Allens here in the metro, am I right?” and Chester again diverted himself to his coffee frap, without noticing it he was already finished with his grande tumbler.

“So let’s call it a wrap?” Mickey suggested, and Chester agreed with his buddy’s suggestion. So Michael drove his buddy to his house.

“Where are you going after this?” Mr. Ylano asked.

It’s so happen that Aunt Nina texted, Mr. Nice guy then read it.

“Oh maybe I’ll just go straight ahead the hospital. Aunt Nana asked me if I could bring her some coffee.” Mickey told Chester.

“Ahh okay, By the way thanks for the ride and the free coffee! Please be cautious on your way, and most of all take care of your driving dude!” as Mr. Ylano reminded Mr. Sy.

So Michael Sy already left Chester’s abode. He had hit on the gas, ordered some coffee and he went straight to the hospital were Nina works.

“Thanks kiddo!” and she tossed his nephew’s hair.

“Nana, I am already old for that…” Mickey said sarcastically.

“You know that you are like a baby to me… Anyways are you on your way home?” his Aunt Nina asked him.

“Yes in a while, I’ll just check on David before I’ll hit my way home…” Mickey answered.

“Well, I think there is a nurse there at this time, you could now check on him now.” Nina suggested.

So he hurriedly went into David’s room, he saw a nurse leaving from its doors.

“Good Evening sir…” politely the staff nurse said.

And he greeted the nurse in return. Michael then opened the hospital door as discreetly as possible, he’s not even sure if David has some guest that night, to his relief there was no one inside aside from David of course.

“Hi there David… Good Evening…” as if he was being heard.
Michael then sat on the same stainless steel chair, and had managed to sit on an angle on where he could see David’s whole profile.
“Ohh… The bandages were already taken off…” Michael said to himself.
The nurse had already stripped off the bandages from David’s facial bruises. Now Michael could actually see the whole profile of David’s face. And he whispered to himself again, “I think that you are doing well by now, you don’t look pale, not like before…” and Mickey was all smiles again.

Then something had caught Michael Sy’s attention. There was this corkboard that he didn’t notice earlier that day. It was so eye-catching because there were notes of well wishes from his colleagues from David’s workplace.

He suddenly got interested, and somehow he decided that he wants to read some of it but the thing is there were like almost a hundred post-its on that corkboard that he doesn’t know where he would start on reading.
“Well I think this is a clever idea…” and he closed his eyes and blindly pinpointed on one of those letters. He got a colored orange note. With the handwriting that Mickey saw, he already had guessed that it came from a girl.

I hope that you’ll get well soon…
We already miss you as well as your oh so distinct laugh…
-Love lots , Tracy"

And then Mickey read another one,

“Hey Dude, pagaling ka na kagad. You are being asked by some of our trainees, nasan na daw ang pinaka-mabait na agent dito sa floor. I do still remember the days, trainee pa rin ako nun. Ikaw ang lagi kong tanungan. Ewan ko nga baka nakulitan ka na sakin nun eh. But still you were all smiles… Basta ha, balik ka na kagad dude… God Bless! – Benj

Napangiti si Michael sa letter na nabasa nya. He was very enthusiastic on reading the next one

Kuya Dave, sabi mo dapat maging positive. I am trying my best to be as positive as I could. So that you’ll recover kagad. We all miss you here… I hope by the time na regular na ako magaling ka na. Kasi i-treat kita di ba when that time comes… I do wish na binabantayan ka lagi ng iyong guardian angel. – Dana, ang makulit na trainee… xoxo

“Really? Talagang makulit na trainee ha?” he told himself, and then he read another letter and then another, and then another. He somehow knew more about this guy who’s a total stranger to him and the only thing that he knows about him before was his name. But now it’s a different story, now Mickey knows what is David’s favorite colors were, which were black and indigo. Favorite food or cuisine: Something Oriental. Favorite hang-outs: Hotel lounges. Favorite music: Jazz music. David loves to laugh and somehow make a fool out of himself just to make the people around him happy. In the end, Mickey concluded that David was a well-rounded guy. He pleases every person who is around him. David makes the people around him happy, that is why he has friends like Allen and Adam who takes care of him. And somehow that very same trait of his has an infectious effect on Mickey. He realized that David was a kind of guy who could make you feel good even at the downiest point of a person’s life.

Mickey just felt really good after reading the forty-fourth post-it note. And then there was this white envelope just under the post-its. He was about to pull it from the cork board when someone called his attention.
