Shuukan (Week) 1 – “Frustration” furasutore-shon, zasetsu



The weather is changing, just this morning it was just scourgingly hot, and tonight rain was pouring hard. As if the weather conditions does adapt with what Kenji Shingoku feel. He forgot to bring his umbrella before going home from his hotel work as a bartender. He was soaking wet. But the rain wasn’t the issue that night. Tears were rolling down from his eyes. It really doesn’t show for the reason that the rain drops washes it away.


You see, Kenji-kun had a really bad day. He was literally frustrated with what had happen today. Here is the list of it.


First on the list of his so-called unfortunate events is that he was asked by his landlord to pay his current bills.

He came on his work a bit late for he had talked to his landlord this morning, and the train that he boarded broke down in the middle of rush hour.

He was scolded by his supervisor for what else?

Then a deduction was made for today’s salary for he was late for almost thirty minutes.

He broke three cosmopolitan glasses, and accidentally cuts himself.

He went into the clinic. He forgot to charge a particular customer and the bill wasn’t paid. The payment was charged to him.

He hated the food that was served in the cafeteria that day. He accidentally had bitten his tongue.

An hour before going home, his boyfriend texted him.

To make things worse, he is now leaving Kenji for another man.

And then he left the hotel with a very heavy heart.
He then decided to walk his way home. It was cloudy. Then there were drippings, it rained. The road was wet, his shoe got wet, and then it was ruined.

He really doesn’t know on where he should go now. His family is from a very remote province. He has a very limited list of friends, and mostly they are busy.

Kenji is at least 30 minutes away from his home. He then came passing this dark alley way. Then from nowhere a man who is about as tall as him pushed him inside the said alley way, he felt some pointy object at his back. It was a knife.

“Give me your wallet, give me your money…” the robber told him.

At this point Kenji did not seem to even care if the robber would take his money. It would more pleasing if he would also take his life. Kenji was furthermore pushed on the inner part of the said alley. The rain stopped. The clouds now were about to clear out. Kenji has stumbled on something, he fell down on the murky pavement. Then the moon seemed to illuminate what seemed to be a body of a naked dead man in a box. The robber went into a panic.

“Oh, there is a dead man in a box…” the robber was like a madman when he saw the seemingly dead cadaver. Then he ran off as fast as he can, even if he hadn’t got much anything from Kenji.

“What an irony, a robber who’s afraid of the dead? Why did he not kill me?” Kenji told himself with a blank face.

He then look on the dead body that the robber saw awhile ago.

“I should be the one in your place right now…” and he started to examine the body.


It was in a seemingly odd box. A toy packaging box that is. A life size toy box, tattered, ruined by the pouring rain that night. His eyes were covered by a white soiled handkerchief. And he seemed to be really dirty. Then Kenji decided to take off the hanky on his face. His eyes were wide open, he has the most angelic blue eyes, but it was blank as if it looking into an endless world. As Kenji continued his examination on this said box, He noticed a weird looking label on it. “Jiru – The lifesize sexdoll for men”.


Kenji was puzzled upon reading this, and somehow he realized that it wasn’t really a dead man after all. It was a life size, life like doll or rather a life size robot. It was about eleven in the evening when he had reached his home. Kenji had quietly sneaked in the said life size toy. He got a really big towel because they were both wet from the rain outside. After drying himself, he went straight to the doll.

"Huh? Yellow Batteries? I was sure that this was missing awhile ago, and it was red..." Kenji was very bewildered with what is happening, he then stood up and for the second time, he clean up the mess that he did, "Maybe I'll just sleep" and he just went into his bed.


After an hour, Kenji went into sleep, then he heard someone knocking on his door... "It is already midnight who the heck..." He impatienly stood up from his slumber. "Wait a minute!" and Kenji went into his door, to his surprise no one is there, but he saw someone running in the corridor, he decided to went after him, but as he went into the open lot in front of his apartment complex building the rain went pouring again.


The guy went missing into the midst of the dark night.


"God! Can I just have a normal life for once!" Kenji went shouting...
